La Papec Machine Co. fu fondata da Billy Hamlin nel 1901 a Lima, nello stato di New York. La società era specializzata nella produzione di macchine agricole per il taglio e per l'insilamento. Nel 1909 la società fu poi trasferita a Shortsville.
