The first part is entitled, A Sketch of Chile Expressly Prepared for the Use of Emigrants from the United States and Europe, describes geography, geology, islands, botany, zoology, history, government, treaties, commerce, steam navigation, agriculture, mines, coal fields, railways, manufacturing, colonization, etc. The second part, Chili, the United State and Spain, gives further details on the country including government, coffee, etc but gives considerable detail on the war with Spain, the Monroe Doctrine, speeches, press reports, and postscripts. An important historical document.
