Description

This is a very good softcover copy in the museum's original blue green paper covers printed in dark red, with almost no wear. Completely clean inside and out. This issue of the journal contains two articles: The Autobiography of Worthington Whittredge 1820 - 1910 and The Technical Examination of Paintings by Sheldon Keck. Worthington Whittredge was an important American painter associated with the Hudson River School. His friends included Albert Bierstadt, Sanford Robinson Gifford and John Kensett. His paintings are in many public collections including the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Louvre in Paris. One of Whittredge's paintings hangs in the Roosevelt Room in the White House. An interesting footnote in Whittredge's long career: he served as the model for George Washington in Leutze's famous painting, Washington Crossing the Delaware, now in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Illustrated in black & white. 11" high X 8" wide, 82 text pages + XXXVI plates. This book will be securely packed and shipped with tracking.
