Edizione: a classic and pleasing work by robert surtees. and a scarce book in this handcoloured illustrated format. the plates are rich and well preserved. the book is a handsome copy of a sporting classic, famous for many decades past.<br> surtees was famous for many reasons, not the least of which was the genre which he helped initiate. the success of the original edition his jorrock's jaunts and jollities gave mssrs. chapman and hall the idea for a similar book of their own, and they drafted a relatively unknown journalist to write it for them. the result was the pickwick papers, by mr. charles dickens.
