Description

First (only) edition, complete in 3 volumes. Full title Anecdotes of Music Historical and Biographical in a Series of Letters from a Gentleman to His Daughter. Contemporary half cloth binding with gilt lettering on spines, boards heavily rubbed and worn (see photos), F F Praed de Woodchester ex-libris on pastedowns, mild and sporadic foxing, in Vol. I hinge open, last page with tear (no loss) and traces of bookworm on the upper margin of the last 8 leaves (not affecting text), otherwise in good conditions, overall a fair-to-good set.
Rare historical and biographical work on music from the early times to the 18th century, presented in the form of letters, written by the Reverend Allatson Burgh, Vicar of St. Lawrence Jewry in the City of London.
