Alessandro Varaldo, nato a Ventimiglia nel 1876, morto a Roma nel 1953 fu romanziere, novelliere, autore drammatico fecondissimo (ricordiamo, tra i suoi titoli, "Due nemici", "La bella e la bestia", "La grande passione", "Una rosa d'autunno", "L'ultimo peccato"). Fu dal 1920 al 1928 direttore della Societa' Italiana degli Autori.
