2 vols., in 3, 8vo., First Edition, with titles in red and black, plates and 6 folding maps (a number coloured in outline); original green pebble-grain cloth, bboards framed in black, upper boards individually blocked and captioned in gilt, gilt backs, chocolate endpapers, uncut, hinges slightly loose (but bindings wholly sound), very lightly rubbed else a very good, bright, clean set. WITH THE FINE NINETEENTH-CENTURY ENGRAVED ARMORIAL BOOKPLATE OF EDWARD CROPPER OF SWAYLANDS ON FRONT PASTE-DOWN OF FIRST VOLUME. Edward Cropper (1799-1877), director of British and Irish Magnetic Telegraph Company; sometime JP and Magistrate in the County of Kent. A bright copy with relevant and direct local provenance.
