8vo., First Edition, with a frontispiece, 49 plates on 34, numerous illustrations and pedigrees (many full-page) in the text, a folding plan and a large folding map (one short tear), neat signature on front paste-down, some scattered spotting throughout text as often; decorative cloth blocked and lettered in blind, gilt back, uncut, hinges just starting (nut binding entirely sound), covers lightly age-faded, corners lightly bruised else a firm, sound copy. With the publisher's errata slip at p.1. The standard history of the town. Scarce. Canon E.H. Goddard went on to produce the modern bibliography of the county in his 'Wiltshire Bibliography' (1929).
