XXXIII Antiquarian Bookfair | 6–8 December, Mechelen (Belgium)
Another special book and picture fair in Mechelen: a paradise for enthusiasts and collectors.
The annual Mechelen Antiquarian Book and Print Fair is about to celebrate its 33rd edition.
From December 6 to 8, Mechelen will become the epicenter of an enchanting world of antiquarian and bibliophile books, prints and engravings. This national and international fair attracts participants from Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, France and the UK.
Over the three days, book lovers and collectors can indulge in a plethora of magnificent literary treasures. From rare manuscripts and first editions to art books and sophisticated prints, this fair offers a unique opportunity to browse, touch and, of course, buy.
“We're delighted to once again offer a platform for book lovers,” says the organizer of the Book and Print Fair. “Mechelen is the ideal location for this event, with its rich history and cultural significance. Visitors can not only enjoy the varied selection of books and printed matter, but also visit the charming city itself.”
After a day rich in literary treasures, visitors can enjoy the unique atmosphere and culinary delights of Mechelen.
The Salon du livre ancien et de l'estampe de Malines is a unique opportunity to get to know and enrich your collection. EXPO ;
During the Mechelen Fair in December 2024
The Antwerp Bibliophile Association and the Dutch Bibliophile Society will be organizing a mini-exhibition as guest participants at the e.k. Mechelen 2024. In 2024, we commemorate the 460th anniversary of the death of Andreas Vesalius. Medicine” seems self-evident to us today, but acquiring this knowledge was laborious. Vesalius was able to refute old ideas through empirical discoveries about the human body. Printing played an essential role in the acquisition and dissemination of this knowledge.
In concrete terms, members will be exhibiting their best treasures in the field of medicine in the broadest sense. We're thinking here of anatomy, pharmacy, astrological medicine (the zodiac man of the old almanacs), quackery/alchemy, hygiene/virus control, wellness, herbal books, medical technology (X-rays), physical exercise/sports, mental well-being (Freud), nutrition (cookery books), preventive medicine (screening, plague books) and environmental health (pollution, climate). What's new is that we're planning to visit a number of stands on Sunday with a small group of young collectors. The aim is for exhibitors to explain why collecting is so much fun, and to inspire and motivate young collectors to collect.
